In memory of Charles Francis Feeney, philanthropist and visionary

It is with great sadness that we learn of the passing of Charles Francis “Chuck” Feeney, an extraordinary philanthropist whose life’s work has left a lasting mark on the world. Chuck’s example of generosity and compassion is cherished by all of us at Oak Foundation.

Chuck’s life exemplified the profound impact that one individual can have on the world through selfless giving. Chuck’s decision to devote his entire personal fortune to global philanthropy touched the lives of countless communities and individuals across the globe, bringing hope and positive change to those in need. His philanthropic investments have led to significant advancements in research, education, and healthcare worldwide.

Chuck’s commitment to giving while living deeply impacted our founder, Alan Parker, who noted, “In our business, Chuck had the foresight. He was the visionary. He later applied those skills to philanthropy, challenging us all to give early, to give more, and to focus on those who are facing difficult circumstances.”

Chuck’s legacy will continue in many ways, including through the Atlantic Fellows programs and the Atlantic Institute, which are fostering a global community of leaders committed to creating fairer, healthier, and more inclusive societies. More information on Chuck’s contributions and life can be found on The Atlantic Philanthropies’ website.

In this time of mourning, we extend our deepest condolences to the entire Feeney family. We hope that they find solace in Chuck’s legacy of kindness and compassion. His spirit will continue to shine brightly, reminding us of the potential for positive change that resides within each of us.
