Philanthropy in action: Oak Foundation President on the Do One Better Podcast

Article

Tune into the latest episode of the Do One Better podcast to hear from Oak Foundation President Doug Griffiths. In a conversation with Alberto Lidji, he shares insights on how philanthropy can advance issues that help people and communities thrive, where everyone is safe and has the opportunity to succeed, and where our natural environment is protected for future generations.

Doug discusses Oak’s funding ethos, including a commitment to providing unrestricted funding, supporting grassroots movements, and a willingness for risk-taking. These grant-making principles are key in our efforts to contribute to a safer, fairer, and more sustainable world.

“My word of the year is philanthropy, because the Greek meaning is originally love of humanity,” says Doug, “I’m going to exhaust everyone with that love of humanity, so that everything that we are doing has to be inspired by that love and by protecting the planet.”
