Partner story

Over the past two decades, the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) has been instrumental in helping to make China a global leader in climate action and environmental protection.
Some notable accomplishments include: supporting the development of a research and development programme for powering electric vehicles with clean energy; helping to clean up China’s ports; and strengthening China’s environmental regulations in domestic law. In 2014, China pledged to cap its coal consumption by 2020 and NRDC has been working to help the country to meet and exceed this goal.
“Our China team is proud to have supported China’s fight against pollution over the past two decades, we look forward to even greater achievements in the decades to come.”
– Jingjing Qian, director of the NRDC’s China programme.
The NRDC has been an Oak Foundation partner since 2007. Congratulations from all of us at Oak for these wonderful achievements!
In addition to working on climate change, the Natural Resources Defense Council works in a wide range of areas including health, energy, water, food and oceans in multiple countries around the world.
