Oak grantee Care has won an award and EUR 10,000 for its Young Men Initiative programme in the Balkan region. The Global Education Innovation Award promotes initiatives that can bring about change through creativity, participation, direct action and innovation.

Care International worked with nine partner organisations to implement the Young Men Initiative, which teaches secondary school students sexual and reproductive health as well as non-violent problem-solving strategies.

“We have seen big progress related to more gender-equal attitudes and knowledge about sexual and reproductive health. And it’s these young men and women who are leading the project.”

“We are so pleased that the hard work of Care has been recognised by this prestigious award,” says Presiana Manolova, Programme Officer of Oak’s Prevent Child Sexual Abuse Programme, based in Bulgaria. “Well done to all who were involved!”
