Steina Bjorgvinsdottir joined Oak Foundation as Project Manager for Safeguarding and Organisational Development in January 2018. In her role she oversees the planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the child safeguarding efforts within Oak, for a period of three years, and will also support other organisational development projects of the foundation.
Steina has over a decade of international experience in child protection in humanitarian settings, with a focus on the Middle East. She has worked with UNICEF in Jordan and Palestine as well as with UNHCR here in Geneva. In addition she has led child protection programming in areas related to justice, case management and psychosocial support with NGOs such as Terre des Hommes and International Medical Corps.
Steina is a certified Social Worker from Denmark and holds a MA in International Development as well as a Post Graduate Diploma in International Human Rights Law. In addition to English and her native tongue Icelandic, she speaks French, Swedish, Danish and can get by in Arabic and German.
