Virginia Ruan

Head of Communications

Virginia joined Oak Foundation as Communications Officer in 2011 to head the internal and external communications initiatives for the foundation, manage digital and print publications and coordinate media relations. She works in collaboration with staff, Trustees and partners to develop communication strategies that aim to meet Oak’s objectives to share achievements, initiatives, lessons learned, developments and other items of interest with external audiences, Trustees and staff.

Virginia has more than ten years of experience managing communications initiatives with NGOs, foundations and USAID development projects around the world. Most of Virginia's career has focused on communications planning, project management, web design and implementation, training, grant writing and public relations. Virginia holds a MA in Communications, Culture and Technology from Georgetown University and a BA from the George Washington University in International Affairs.
