Programme Officer – Climate Change and Energy, Latin America and India
Karen Regina Suassuna joined Oak Foundation in November 2012 as a Climate Programme Officer. Karen is an agricultural engineer and holds a bachelors degree with the University of São Paulo. She obtained a Masters of Science degree in "Environmental Change and Management" with the Oxford University in 2004. In previous assignments, she worked for Greenpeace and WWF in Brazil as an environmental policy expert in fields such as agriculture, toxics, pollution and climate change.
Her last job was with the Ministry of Environment in Brazil, where she directed the Climate Change Department, articulating the implementation of the National Climate Change Law, and its instruments: the National Plan on Climate Change, the Climate Fund and sectoral mitigation and adaptation plans, including: industry, transport, mining, agriculture and health. Karen will be responsible for our climate-related activities in Latin America and India.
