To establish the truth about the UK’s involvement in the practice of rendition and to ensure reform of the legal and policy frameworks to prohibit it. Investigations will proceed through: Freedom of Information requests in the UK and partner countries (US and Australia); parliamentary enquiries and lobbying; and parliamentary and non-parliamentary advocacy for an independent judicial inquiry. Global Justice Centre
To develop international legal frameworks on sexual violence and equal political participation to enhance the protection of women’s rights in transitional contexts worldwide. In particular, it will advocate for a Security Council referral of Burma to the International Criminal Court; provide support to the High Tribunal and women leaders in Iraq on gender crimes; and work with female judges and lawyers in Sierra Leone to strengthen the enforcement of international law within the country. To fund expansion of the International Human Rights Funders Group in the US in order to grow membership by a third and increase the engagement of current members. The Group’s goals are: to improve international networks; increase the participation of voices from the Global South; and to carry out advocacy in the US towards improving the regulatory environment for human rights funders (including possible reform of the Patriot Act).
