To finance the opening of a café at the “Rigshospitalet” in Copenhagen for young people in the hospital. The main objective is to give them somewhere they can meet up with other young people who are hospitalised and where friends can come and visit them. To support the development of the website www.hope.dk/ung that will provide more information for children and teenagers whose families are seriously affected by the problems associated with alcohol. Den Selvejende Institution Kvindehjemmet i København
To support the initial design by a landscape architect of a garden for Kvindehjemmet, a women’s shelter in Copenhagen. The garden will contribute to improving the conditions for the women and children at the shelter. Once the final design has been submitted, Kvindehjemmet will apply to other foundations for support in realising the garden project, which will complete the total renovation of the facilities. To provide a playground for children staying at Egmontgården, a crisis centre, with the aim of improving their motor skills and providing mental and physical stimulation. FAKTI – foreningen af kvinder til fremme af integration
To support this Women’s Association in Copenhagen in helping immigrant women and their families integrate into Danish society. The project aims to create a better life for the women who spend time at FAKTI, both psychologically and physically. It also encourages them to take responsibility for their own and their children’s lives. Doctors, dieticians, psychologists and other professionals, who speak the women’s languages, will help them to focus on various issues, such as health and nutrition. USD 67,560

To provide support to the families of children with cancer by arranging “family weekends” and other activities. The association helps families learn how to deal with grief and organises evenings for parents to assist them in coping with the loss of a child. To support the urgent renovation and restoration of The Salvation Army building in Christianshavn, Copenhagen, which functions as a day centre for 60 to 70 people. To support various social arrangements for people at Hørhuset, Copenhagen, such as a cooking project and a trip to Sweden. It also includes the purchase of a billiard table. Hørhuset is an institution for homeless people run by the Salvation Army that can accommodate up to 64 people. USD 27,992

IOGT Husets Pårørende Rådgivning
To offer talk therapy groups for young people from 15 to 18 whose parents have a problem with alcohol. This is part of IOGT’s larger programme which offers counselling and support to relatives of problem drinkers. Kirkens Korshærs Sociale Hjælpearbejde (The Church Cross Army)
To fund the construction of a new building with bathroom facilities at the Church Cross Army’s summer camp in Skaverup. The camp can cater for up to 50 people and is open from April to October. It offers one-week holidays to families, drug addicts, mentally ill, handicapped and homeless people who could not otherwise afford a holiday. The camp organises daily activities and nutritious meals for residents. USD 207,022

Københavns Praktiserende Lægers Børnefond
To support The Foundation of Children’s Doctors in Copenhagen by giving them the ability and means to support poor families affected by illness in Copenhagen and Frederiksberg. The doctors can recommend financial help based on their knowledge of a family’s situation. The Foundation distributes sums of between DKK 5,000 and DKK 10,000 and the money is generally used to purchase practical items. USD 16,928

To ensure the continued existence of “Kringlebakken”, an integration facility for immigrant women, their children and young girls between the ages of 8 and 18 years old. To support the installation of bathrooms and the purchase of new furniture for “Dannerhuset” in Copenhagen. This grant represents part of a thorough renovation of the house. Natteravnene (Night Ravens)
To fund courses for 50 volunteers to learn more about the Natteravnene. This is a voluntary group of adults who go out on the streets in the evenings and whose presence helps to reduce violence, drug abuse and crime among young people. The Natteravnene function as mediators and observers but do not attempt to act as policemen or intervene in incidents. The courses are being offered because four key volunteers will soon be retiring and there is a strong desire to launch the concept nationwide. USD 29,993

To support the Art Center at the Sct. Hans psychiatric hospital which, with the help of skilled instructors, gives patients the opportunity to express their creative abilities through art. The work creates a link to reality for them and builds their self-esteem. To support the Connect project, which offers support to young women of diverse ethnic backgrounds who have decided to break ties with their families because of honour-based violence or threats to their lives.
