Oak Zimbabwe Grants for Special Needs Education (2008)
-
Dance Trust of Zimbabwe
To continue teaching dance at the centres currently benefiting from the programme, and at the same time to identify other groups of underprivileged children such as AIDS orphans and street children. The project also seeks to work with more people with special needs (though not necessarily children) through regular programmes at specific institutions. (Over two years)
-
NZEVE Deaf Children's Centre
To prepare young deaf children for formal education by giving them a start in learning sign language, communication skills within the family, and also to empower deaf youth to be economically independent.
-
Zimcare Trust
To support Zimcare Head Office and 14 centres so that they can continue to offer specialised education and rehabilitation services to the mentally disabled in Zimbabwe. This will be achieved through the provision of salaries to senior staff at Head Office who coordinate the centres' activities.
